About the Role

As a Sports Content Writer at OnSportsNow, you'll be responsible for creating engaging, informative, and timely content across multiple sports. You'll write game previews, recaps, feature stories, and analysis that help our users stay connected to the sports they love.

This role requires a deep knowledge of multiple sports, strong writing abilities, and the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high editorial standards. You'll collaborate with our data, product, and engineering teams to integrate your content with our stats and scores offerings, creating a seamless experience for sports fans.

Key Responsibilities

• Write compelling game previews, live updates, and post-game recaps across multiple sports leagues
• Develop in-depth feature stories, profiles, and analytical pieces that provide context and insights
• Create and update team and player pages with relevant information and statistics
• Monitor breaking news and trending topics in the sports world to ensure timely coverage
• Collaborate with data analysts to incorporate advanced statistics and metrics into content
• Work closely with editors to maintain high standards of accuracy, quality, and style
• Optimize content for search engines and social media engagement
• Ensure factual accuracy and proper sourcing in all published content
• Adhere to tight deadlines, particularly for time-sensitive coverage
• Participate in content planning and contribute story ideas
• Stay current on sports news, trends, and developments across multiple leagues

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field
• 2+ years of experience in sports writing or journalism
• Strong knowledge of at least two major sports (NBA, MLB, NHL, Soccer, NCAA Basketball)
• Excellent writing and editing skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment
• Understanding of sports statistics and how to integrate them into compelling narratives
• Experience writing for digital media and understanding of SEO best practices
• Excellent research skills and commitment to factual accuracy
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Preferred:

• Experience covering multiple sports leagues professionally
• Background at a sports media outlet, newspaper, or digital publication
• Knowledge of advanced sports analytics and their application
• Experience with content management systems
• Understanding of social media trends and engagement strategies
